2016 African Women’s Championship: Black Queens Trounce Tunisia
Ghana women football team secured qualification to the 2016 African Women’s Championship after a thumping 4-0 victory over Tunisia. Tuesday’s win at the Accra Stadium hands the Black Queens back-to-back victories after edging their opponents 2-1 in the first leg.
Two goals apiece in either half cemented Ghana’s place at the 10th edition of the Championship to be staged in Cameroon.
Samira Suleman put Ghana in front after 27 minutes from a header at the far post. Six minutes later, Portia Boakye doubled Ghana’s lead as the Black Queens went into the break two-nil up.
The second period kicked off with Ghana determined to up the scores but they had to wait until the 70th minute when Priscilla Adobea made it 3-0.
And with the game heading towards the closing stages Samira Suleman wrapped up an impressive day for the Black Queens when she scored again in the 83rd minute.
Ghana and six other teams would gain their places in the final tournament scheduled for 19 November to 3 December 2016.
